Beware of COVID-19 Scammers

Do you get phone calls, text messages, or emails offering free face masks? Or have you seen Facebook ads that promise free COVID-19 testing kits or “cures?”  Be careful. Don’t fall for it!

Sadly, scammers are using COVID-19 to try to steal your Medicare Number and other information. If anyone asks for your Medicare Number or personal information to send you something “free,” you can bet it’s a scam.

Stop scams before they happen. Watch this short video and view this booklet for tips on preventing Medicare scams and fraud. If you suspect fraud, call to report it at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048.
